Just like Dr. Who! Well, not quite like Dr. Who. Nothing really resembling Dr. Who in fact – this is my blog, it’s been sitting idle for a few years now and since I’m getting my photography website up and running, I thought it might be nice to have somewhere to put down some ideas or stories from time to time.

With that in mind, I’m regenerating my blog – a change of name, a new look and hopefully new things to come!

It seems apt that I’m doing this just as the year is starting its own regeneration. It’s March, it feels like it’s been a long winter – we’ve had a lot of grey skies and little sunshine for the last few months. This morning I saw the chipmunk for the first time since last fall when he/she disappeared underground for the winter. Surely that has to be a sign that spring is not too far off and before long there will be geese in the sky and on the ice of the river, followed shortly afterward by the Red-Winged Blackbirds.

Regeneration – I’m kind of going through it myself in a way. I recently retired from day job of almost 20 years – Real Estate Photography. Now I’m beginning a new phase and I realise that for most of my adult life I’ve had responsibilities to others that I no longer have. I’m now responsible to myself, and I can (mostly) use my time the way I want to. It’s a big shift and one I’m looking forward to exploring. Here’s to spring! Here’s to new growth and exciting times to come!

Welcome!

It's me, Louise - retired, wandering and photographing. Hopefully some of my photos and/or what I post will resonate with you and brighten your day. I used to make glass beads but time and lack of space have made me switch tracks. My work life for almost the past 20 years has been real estate photography. When I started out I was flying by the seat of my pants. Gradually over the years I learned the ins and outs of dslr cameras, shooting and processing techniques. I have found my joy in being out in nature with a camera, never knowing what I might find next, and working out the best way to capture an image of whatever the subject might be.
